Botox - Frequently asked questions
back to previous page
A natural purified protein which when injected into wrinkle-causing muscles creates a smoother, rejuvenated appearance. As it increases in popularity we have put together a few frequently asked questions and answers - but don't let this stop you from asking your own!
When used for cosmetic purposes it gives a "wide-eyed" trouble-free look and takes away or minimizes frown lines, that make you look as if you are scowling.
Is BOTOX ® safe?
Yes. BOTOX ® was rebranded as Vistabel in the UK in March 2006, and has gained a license for cosmetic use. For instance it is one of the few treatments that can be given to treat children over two years of age to treat Cerebral Palsy - BOTOX ® helps them to walk!
How does Vistabel ® work?
Vistabel works on the muscles to prevent the"wrinkling" message getting through. The skin then relaxes and the lines just smooth away.
How long does a Vistabel ® treatment take?
About 10 minutes. A full consultation will be required and after an assessment the nurse will determine the injection site to achieve the best results for you.
Does it hurt?
We think it feels like a very small insect bite; although if you are nervous about this aspect a local anaesthetic can easily be applied.
Are there any side-effects?
Side effects are rare and if they do occur they are temporary.
There has never been any recorded instance of allergic reaction.
There will be a small amount of initial swelling and some redness both of which will disappear within an hour or so.
Some people with very fine skin could have a slight bruise. Cheshire Images has a whole wealth of experience in delivering safe, effective treatments.
Following three to ten days, when the Vistabel ® has "kicked in", we need to see the patient to check the effectiveness of that treatment and judge the dose for the next time.
How long will my Vistabel ® last?
The result varies from person to person but will last between three to seven months initially. For best results research has shown that three monthly treatments should be given for the first year.
Vistabel ® is simple, safe, quick, effective and acts as not only a CURE for existing wrinkles but also as a PREVENTATIVE against the formation of further lines. Furthermore. experienced practitioners are now able to offer facial "lifting" as well as line reduction using Vistabel ®.
