Chemical peels
Frequently asked questions
Suitable for: Age-marks, Pigmentation, Sun damage, Acne scarring and Skin Rejuvenation
A healthy glowing skin signifies youth and attractiveness. Smooth supple and bright skin is a reflection of inner health, wellbeing and happiness. In recent years significant progress has been made in aesthetics and cosmetology allowing specific and effective treatments for a patient.
Sun, smog, smoking, extremes of temperature and many other causes are a constant threat to the health and wellbeing of our skin. As we age these are the reasons that our skin loses it brightness and softness only to appear duller and lacking in moisture.
Jessner's Peel
These Peels have been used extensively for many years and are scientifically based. They debride and rejuvenate using:
Resorcinol: which is a peeling agent. It helps to provide a numbing effect and assists the penetration of the lactic and salicylic acid.
Lactic Acid: has a moisturising effect on the skin which enables it to work in conjunction with Resorcinol and salicylic acid to enhance the evenness of the Jessner's Peel.
Salicylic Acid: penetrates into the skin's follicles. It opens the sebaceous glands and stimulates the elimiination of waste.
Preparation
The skin must be prepared with Theraderm cleanser, exfoliant, OPC gel and moisturiser for two to three weeks prior to a Jessner's Peel. Patients should discontinue use of products containing retinols two weeks prior to their Jessner's Peel to avoid overpeeling.
The peel will cause a tingling and slight burning sensation which lasts a few minutes and is easily tolerated.
Following the treatment there will be a period of skin exfoliation followed by the renewal stage.
