| Removal of Thread Veins
|
| Thread veins, or dermal flares, are very fine dilated
veins situated just beneath the surface of the skin. It
is essential that patients with dermal flares undergo a
venous assessment to make sure that there is no underlying
condition causing them. |
| Also known as spider veins, these are small, thin veins
found particularly on the legs. A solution, called a sclerosant,
can be injected into these veins so that they are less
noticeable. It's an outpatient procedure that does not
require an anaesthetic. The sclerosant causes the tiny
veins to collapse, without causing any damage to the main
supply of blood to the legs or skin. More than one sclerotherapy treatment
will be necessary to achieve a satisfactory cosmetic result.
Treatment does not prevent new veins appearing. |
| The best form of treatment for these small veins is microsclerotherapy.
Sometimes VPL Photorejuvenation may
be advisable in conjunction with, or even instead of microsclerotherapy. |
